Quickstart
By the end of this page you will have a Bot Activity report showing which AI crawlers and search engine bots reached your website — with the pages they requested, the status codes they got back and how long your server took to answer.
No tracking script is involved, and nothing changes on your pages.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- A Google account. Log Hero signs in with Google and does not use passwords.
- The domain you want to track, and the ability to install a plugin or change a setting on the server or CDN in front of it.
- About fifteen minutes. Most of it is waiting for the first requests to arrive.
1. Create your account
Section titled “1. Create your account”- Go to app.log-hero.com and choose Sign up with Google.
- Enter the domain you want to track, without a protocol —
for example
example.com. - Confirm.
Log Hero creates two things for you: your domain inside the Bot Activity report, and a separate Google Analytics property that receives the same data as a raw source. You do not have to configure either one.
2. Connect your log source
Section titled “2. Connect your log source”Log Hero reads the requests your server or CDN already answers. Pick the integration that matches where your traffic terminates:

If more than one applies, choose the one closest to the visitor — an edge integration sees requests that never reach your origin, including requests your CDN answers from cache.

3. Wait for the first requests
Section titled “3. Wait for the first requests”Hits appear in Log Hero within a few minutes of the integration going live. You do not need to generate traffic — bots arrive on their own, and on most sites the first bot request lands within the hour.
Check it worked
Section titled “Check it worked”Open the Bot Activity report in your Keyword Hero account. When the integration is working you will see:
- A banner reading Log Hero is receiving bot traffic for this domain.
- A non-zero Bot hits figure in the summary row.
- At least one named bot in the table below the chart.
If the report is still empty after 30 minutes, work through No data arriving. It is almost always one of four things, and that page checks them in order.
